There are about 600 registered Podengos in America -- approximately 500 are Podengo Pequenos and 125+ are Podengo Medios or Grandes. There are perhaps as many as 1,000 non-registered Podengos, mostly Medios, in the US who are largely engaged in hunting. The Portuguese Podengo is a versatile dog, capable of excelling in the show ring as well as in hunting, sports, and many other activities. They are an intelligent, responsive breed and we hope you get to know them better through this website.
