Conformation ShowsFirst BIS in America!
The American Rare Breed Association's Nutmeg Classic took place September 23, 2006 in Haddam, Connecticut and its greatest history maker was Fenomeno do Vale do Poco, who won two (not one, but two!) Best In Shows. Fenomono, bred by Vitor and Gabriela Veiga, is owned by Nadine Mahan of Watertown, Connecticut. This was the first time a Podengo Medio has won a Best in Show in the US. It was quite an achievement! We look forward to a great future for the phenomenal Fenomono!

Vaidosa do Vale do Poco Owned by John Fernandes of Massachusetts and bred by Vitor Viega of Portugal, Vaidosa is an exceptional hunting dog. She came right from rabbit hunting on Cape Cod to this Rarities show in Providence, Rhode Island, where she won Group. Quite a day! |
Record Holder Almirante of Speedwinds, owned and bred by Nancy Sands of of Dallas, Texas holds the 2008 ARBA record for most wins by a Podengo and most wins by ANY breed! Almirante is also a NAKC/Rarities champion and has performed beautifully on the show circuit. |
